Inner Beauty Tonic

Inner Beauty Tonic

Raw herbs can be potent medicine. In fact many modern pharmaceuticals are derived from Chinese herbs that have been used for thousands of years in teas and decoctions. But in contrast to pharmaceuticals, herbs in their natural form don't come with adverse side effects.

I decided to throw together some herbs that nourish the body so that you can shine from the inside out. In Chinsee medicine lingo, the herbs calm the spirit, move constrained "qi" (energy) throughout the body for improved circulation, aid digestion and improve nutrient absorption, benefit the skin, and nourish the "yin" (blood and fluids) within the body. These herbs are adaptogenic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant rich. They regulate cholesterol and blood pressure, stimulate the immune system, and calm the nervous system. All of these benefits direct from nature!

I must confess that I also chose herbs that were beautiful to look at because it is just more fun to drink something beautiful! :) The combination turned out really beautifully and tasted good too! Read below to find out more about the specific herbs I used.

If you would like to try this at home, consider starting with perhaps the most beautiful Chinsese herb - Mei Gua Hua - or Rosebud. You can buy it bulk at an herbal pharmacy or online here. Cheers!
